Refreshingly bright work. Easily digestible phenomenology. Bachelard talks like a favourite professor. Read this a while back but from memory it's more an exploration of these conceptions, and a celebration of imagination, than anything with strict conclusions. Well sourced, lots of poetry, fine jumping off point for further reading. Gets a bit repetitive structurally and maybe does not go as far as I would like analytically but I guess there's always his other stuff, or other phenomenologists. Interest petered off but only because I care more about corners and closed drawers than nests or shells. Breath of fresh air though.
