Honestly this is a decent book at least interesting with the brutal honesty the author writes about being a ignorant resident, especially compared to the other residency memoirs where there's liberal doses of autofellatio. I think that's probably due to the author having both a PhD and a medical degree so he doesn't feel the need to slobber his own knob as much and as such his honesty is refreshing. That being said the main sticking point is the pickme parts where he argues that the 80 hour workweek limit is bad. This book was probably before those ACGME studies showed no decrease in learning with work hour limits but it still boggles me how hard he dickrides for this suffering that literally has been proven unhelpful to anyone including himself. It's honestly a good book I just felt a need to rant about his contrarian viewpoint which doesn't really seem to bear out the benefits he claims.
