The Sufferings of Prince Sternenhoch is ostensibly about a man going insane after unfortunate events in his marriage but it's really more of a philosophy book. It comes with an autobiographical essay by the author who seems like a genuine eccentric and the philosophical content was quite hard to follow, so I'm not surprised this book is not well-known. Despite being confused by a lot of what was going on, the first part of this book is written like no other book I've read before. It's constant chaos happening in every single paragraph and I kinda wish the rest of the book moved at such a fast pace. If the book was told like the first part it would definitely be one of my favorite books ever.

Recommended if you like Dostoevsky and Heinrich von Kleist. The book is strongly inspired by Nietzsche although it reads as somewhat of a parody of him as well (the essay in the back suggests this was only to adhere to narrative convention which I 100% believe, this author is definitely as intense as Nietzsche in his beliefs). The only other books I've read that were so intense they almost felt like being under the influence are Gravity's Rainbow, Ice, and The passion according to G.H. so if that's your thing this is a must read. Parts of it reminded me of Ungeduld des Herzens (Beware of Pity) too.

Although it's a very short novella, this hurt my head and I need to read something more chill now.
