I watched my first boxing match last night. Mike Tyson lost to Jake Paul, which, I don't know, the whole thing seemed pretty stupid and underwhelming and sad. But I discovered boxing is interesting. One of the neat parts about getting older is things which used to be unappealing suddenly becoming worthwhile. For me, right now, its card games and boxing.
Headshot is quick and wrenching. It's focus is quite narrow--7 fights between 8 boxers making up a two-day tournament. The narrative doesn't so much focus on the action as on the thoughts of the combatants, along with straightforward premonitions about their future.
This is a book about boxing and being a teenage girl. It is more skillfully written than most books I've read. Pick it up if you can, it's neat.

I've seen this floating around a lot online so I've been kinda avoiding it..but from your review it sounds like it's worth a shot.
