Continuing my little fling with underground caves I got this book because it looked awesome from the cover. What is the government trying to hide 🧐
SPOILER: it’s nothing too crazy or interesting and further to that no surprise to anyone. Like of course the US government has a bunch of secret bunkers.
I will give credit to this book. The cover looks silly and the tagline advertising plenty of pictures doesn’t fill you with confidence but the author writes about the topic soberly and is honest when he is speculating.
He takes little snippets from FOIA requests that have slowly dripped out and tries to map the various underground facilities that dot America. He makes a good case for them existing but I would have believed they existed with no evidence since it seems a very logical thing to do.
The point of contention is how large these bases are. Some supposedly are big enough to fly a jumbo jet through. He details some of the technology and logistical trials that would involve building an underground network for this purpose but I am no engineer and I am also sure technology has moved on much further since this book was written so I will move on from that.
