There's a lot this book doesn't do. It's not much a postmortem of the Bernie campaign, if you were hoping for that. It doesn't go any deeper into politics than labor good, libs bad, keep a stiff upper lip we might get another chance. She never says what race she is. What it does do is provide you with entertaining little anecdotes about her life, if always couched in insecure millennial irony, and Amber's a fun enough writer to make it work for a light read on your lunch break. If you're a man (or woman, she makes it clear she's open to the idea) looking to add some verisimilitude to your fantasies of distilling moonshine in a hidden Appalachian holler with a melungeon queen, this is the book for you.

If the book was particularly satisfying or effectual it wouldn't be a fitting epitaph to the dirtbag years now would it?
