I think Amber is the only member of the whole dirtbag/post-dirtbag left sphere to actually take some account of how the merciless egotism and social ineptitude of contemporary leftists ended up imploding the whole movement even more effectively than the corporations or the FBI or whatnot. Also there's a bunch of juicy gossip if you care about that (the identities are typically redacted, but anyone with a minimum of Googling skills/irony poisoning knows who she's calling out). I loved her evocations of her Indiana childhood and the ways that working class people aren't as retarded, provincial, or prejudiced are their supposed social betters think they are. I think maybe Amber's a bit too optimistic about the future of American socialism but whatever, this is still a lot of fun and genuinely quite affecting in parts (see: her account of he friend's death bc of our broken healthcare system)
