Disney's 1951 Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's a huge comfort movie to me, so when I learned it was based on a book I wanted to read it. I was very young at the time, so I gave up when faced with the confusing and old-timey language. Earlier this year, I finally decided to pick it back up, and I am so glad I did.
This book is surreal and can be a bit difficult to understand at times, but it is so so fun, interesting, and well written. There's so much to dig into and analyze; I feel like I could reread this over and over and still find things I didn't notice before. The illustrations are beautiful as well. And above all that, this book is funny. I giggled to myself on numerous occasions while reading.
It is leagues above any movie adaptation I've ever seen. It's a classic for a reason.
