M. B. (Margaret Bertha) Synge was a British historian and accomplished author. An author of numerous works, her most recognized was A Book of Discovery. Synge held a respected position as a member of the Royal Historical Society (F.R.Hist.S.), an esteemed organization designed to advance historical studies and support scholars. She also wrote The Story of the World, a celebrated history book series catering to children that was illustrated by her brother, Edward M. Synge, Etcher. Even though Synge dealt with complex historical topics, she had a knack for making them compelling and uncomplicated. As a director of various schools, she wrote numerous instructional volumes aimed at young readers, including The Discovery of New Worlds and The Awakening of Europe.
