The Sun Vanished

I look to the sky,

the sun vanished.

I finger in the darkness for

discernible meaning or patterns,

my hands have grown numb

from sifting through tatters

of brighter days.

I squint my eyes

to let the rays in,

but they've grown strained from searching,

and I'm tired of looking.

You should read "Actual Air" by David Berman. It might help you develop the sparse prose you are using here. Lots of oblique natural imagery like the kind you start out these piece with.
