Roach Motel

Impatient, but I'm still waiting

For the clouds to break, for God to speak

The longing just as good as the moment

This dance in form is exquisite, painful

Knowledge frees but your wrist still hurt

She surrendered when she got the call

Came home, left her roach motel room

Dried out in her lover's bed, furrowed brow

When watching her limbs move under sheets

"You okay?" and "Did that help?", sweetness

Dripping from parted lips, letting herself heal

The storm was over, the others were incidental

Happy accidents, whatnot, unconcerned lovers

She still would leave some evenings, come back

To her other smiling in their sickbed, unconcerned

Smelling of sweat and others, she wrapped her

Lover, who kissed her hand, up in cotton covers

Drifted off to sleep, bad dreams dissipate in sunlight

Dark feelings never leave completely but gain depth

With experience, casting incredible shapes through

The everlasting gloom, sunrise always coming soon

How desperate do you want it to be, to be

Compelling, sometimes, it's just a happy ending

And sometimes, a friend is a friend, no matter

What was said, you will always be my friend, again

Prostrate on marble, the act of missing you, worship

Never ungrateful for the gift of another's company,

She wasn't always happy but she enjoyed anyways
