music.salon time: recommend your fav songs/albums/artists you're listening to right now. For me it's Manuel Gottsching's E2-E4 and Chicane's Far from the Maddening Crowds.

My summertime listening always ends up being a mix of stuff like MDC, Scratch Acid, Minor Threat, Butthole Surfers, etc, and then Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, etc.

love the chicane inclusion -- if you love chicane and E2-E4, have you, by chance, heard "Sueño Latino (The Paradise Version)"?

Outside of my ever-constant, overwhelming love and admiration for Joni Mitchell, I've been loving, swaying, feeling generally attuned to a few artists: Karen Dalton, especially the song Something On Your Mind: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsYHN7eCCtU Love is Everywhere by Pharoah Sanders might actually be saving me, spiritually, emotionally, religiously. I think there's an ultimate secret truth somewhere in this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQvpDIE70wk Also I liked Waxahatchee's most recent album, the collective works of Arthur Russell, Phil Och's lovely sarcastic protest songs, Trout Mask Replica, polyrhythms in general.

I am in love with Stina Nordenstam. I get that everyone has their tastes, and yes yes, some have better taste than others, but when I listen to her music I get that feeling "how the eff can you not cry your eyes out to this? How can you not love this?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0s5BuXbrGDg This is Now That You're Leaving, which is my fav by her <3 Also mentions for Elliot Smith, Jason Molina and David Berman, but I don't want to take up so many words.

The Band is an eternal constant for me. Been on a big Tom Waits kick, too. And lately I've been listening to Young Fathers, particularly their 28 Years Later score, and Tomorrow Comes Crashing by Smut, which might be my AOTY. https://youtu.be/TaDGd3Mbm6o?si=yhcXcF9PJD2xt94f
