I read this in French in uni. It was OK.
Actually, don't tell anybody this but I found Antigone like, really boring. I don't feel bad for anybody in this story. It's a "I want them to all die or kill each other or whatever it takes for the story to end-type book." In these soap opera tragedies you know it's coming. It makes me remember lulling half awake in a desk.
My teacher was Haitianne. I found her stories about growing up in Haiti way more interesting. If the class was about her, I would have never fallen asleep, but university is where ya go to read Antigone.Side note: Most of y'all American dilettantes here can't speak or read French and masturbate over English translations of Foucault. You'll never read it in its mother tongue so really it's lost on ya.
“We have only a little time to please the living. But all eternity to love the dead.”
— Antigone
