Saw some renewed interest in Tao after his funding at UCLA was cut and was reminded of his Analysis I, which was a free PDF online so I read this instead of paying attention during my lectures. Tao is one of the greatest living mathematicians but he is also an incredibly gifted technical writer. He pares down advanced mathematical concepts deftly and (I'm not sure if this sounds strange to say) but it reads like he genuinely cares about guiding his students through higher-level math concepts. I've been staying away from math for a bit (haven't had any really math-heavy classes since the spring) but this reminded me of how much I actually really love the subject. Yay!

Nothing like a good math textbook where everything starts to make sense!
