Inverted Crusoeism in my dream setting ie a festering wild swamp, half submerged skyscrapers overtaken with prehistoric creatures and a few final men going mad, being driven further south/inward by an amniotic urge that has come to them in "jungle dreams". Any climate commentary or praise re this being prophetic etc. is way less interesting than Ballard's ability to convey a kind of darkness/madness and the sense that something beautiful and awful is unfurling.
