Has childhood always been that bad?

(English version: Class Trip: A Novel)
A timid child is afraid of everything during a school trip, and indeed, something looms.

The mystery in this short novel isn't really the point. Rather, that precise point in time is: there is a tormented time between childhood and teenage years, and there is set this story. Boyhood is not far, and the fear of the many unknowns ahead guides very hesitant steps.

I can't tell if it revived forgotten childhood memories or if it rewrote them. Yet, I found it all to be true: the constant fear, the guilt born out of the belief one can be blamed for everything bad happening around, the anxious desire to please, the hope for a crisis (anything to stop the constant unease), the fascination turned into desire, the constant daydreaming, the porous frontier with reality - reality contaminates dreams rather than the other way, up until dreams become a way to tell reality apart from the lies.
