This was bought to be consumed as airport literature (150 pages, perfect for a short flight), but it ended up being a bit more than something to pass the time.
Ayami, an actress in a theater for the blind about to close, goes through the night with her director, looking for a friend, followed by a deranged man. Tomorrow, she'll welcome a poet from a foreign land. A night and a day, then.
There is no clear limit between what is lived, thought, and dreamed. A lot of impressions are made on the reader, a lot of them by way of retelling: some paragraphs echo across the day, and suddenly the story loops in unexpected places.
In the end it feels like a morning after one of those heavy dreams during which many lives were lived. Nothing dramatic, nothing horrific, but something for sure, although nothing remains upon opening the eyes.
