The fact that the medical staff here with our hero Dr. Pou immediately jumped to euthanasia after the power went out and went in air conditioned cars in the parking lot to weep about the situation without even thinking maybe putting the crippled patients into their air conditioned cars immediately elevates this story into one of the darkly funniest books I read. Dr. Pou and the medical staff's crimes do not rise to murder, but if there's a criminal offense for causing death through abject ignorance and stupidity this books makes a strong case for it.
