Scratches the same itch in my brain that Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle In Time (for a long time, one of my absolute favorite books) did for me as a child; the prose is lush and eccentric, it connects the the celestial to the human and to the mystical. It occupies a spiritual landscape greater than itself without any sense of self-indulgence. The prose is rich with imagery of the moon and the sea and, as somebody who has felt a particular connection to both (not sure how to say that without sounding silly or 10 years old!), these stories felt like a love letter to me. They felt like curling up inside the crescent moon. They felt like a full moon's reflection rippling across black ocean waves. Just so so beautiful and special :)
