I actually read multiple Elmore Leonard books in recent weeks, but this is the one I'll review, because it's the last one of his books I'll read.
This is Leonard trying to do Hiaasen and landing far below the mark. That's not terribly offensive, but it made me realize that I've never read a Leonard novel that I've actually enjoyed all the way through. They all suffer from the same disease: about two-thirds of the way through, he gets bored, wraps up half of his plot threads by having the characters behave stupidly, and forgets about the other half.
Some authors work better on screen than they do on the page. I'll watch Jackie Brown over and over again for the rest of my days, but damn if I ever pick another one of these novels up again.
