Brooke-Rose was, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most innovative, brilliant authors of the 20th/21st century. She has perhaps a dozen equals in modernist/postmodernist English fiction, all much more well-known. I'd read in chronological order, skipping her first four novels. Those need only be read before Life, End Of. Her nonfiction is also great and required reading prior to Life, End Of.
