I had never heard of the author before Sam Kriss mentioned him in his most recent essay. Finished Cocaine Nights and enjoyed it. It felt as if it should have been published in the 70's or 80's, I was surprised to see that it released in '96. Cartoonish amounts of vice support swing-for-the-fences polemics against contemporary suburban society. I'm interested to read Super-Cannes next.

Cool, you're reading him sort of backwards. I haven't got to his later stuff yet but the more I read of him the more visionary I think he was. Maybe I will jump forward to Cocaine Nights at this point. The kind of "idealistic" writer who would get the Nobel if there was justice in the universe.
