embedding images in reviews could be fun?

The main one for me is a "following" feed where you can see the activity - reviews, lists, comments, additions, likes (each could be toggled to include or not) - of the people you follow. This would be a massive enhancement for me and will be increasingly necessary as volume of content grows.

half of these should be possible with the new explore page, with the exception of more granular activities like "liked X", "commented on X", or "added book X". But yea the explore page can be fleshed out further

My bad for not exploring the explore page properly. Looks good. But I seem to be following myself, not sure how that happened... any way I can unfollow myself?

Maybe some sort of comment box on books' pages like on RYM? Sometimes there are some short ideas I'd like to express + it would be useful for keeping joke reviews out of the main tab. Or alternatively, the ability to link books to threads, so on the book's page can see the threads where it might have been discussed?

Some big ideas: - Original writing, but under some pre-conditions (at least N books in shelf, N reviews, etc). Very sensitive, but important. - Separating really short reviews from normal reviews, so that it looks more like a salon thread (Still thinking of a clever way to handle this) - More profile customizations. Perhaps a "primary color" picker, so that elements in your shelf are shown in your color of choice - Idea from @dulla: abstracted lists: allow lists of reviews.

I feel like the closest thing to your second point I've seen are the rateyourmusic comment boxes. Maybe not exactly the same but they allow for a form of running dialogue without diluting the main review tab with one sentence jokes while not outlawing them altogether.

It would be nice to be able to see lists you have liked, maybe seeing reviews you have liked would be good too. Maybe what would also work is the ability to save lists and reviews separately from liking. Either would be nice. Not super pressing since it’s not too hard to scroll through and find a particular list right now, but as volume grows it would be nice to have a history of things you’ve liked or saved.

Great idea, I'll add a ticket for this. I keep forgetting this. Also ability to see your threads and quotes in your shelf. Forgot I removed that and never added it into shelf.
