How many of you read literary journals/reviews/little magazines/etc., and if so, which ones do you read? I feel mildly awful about submitting stories to them, occasionally publishing stories in them, and then never actually reading them. Anyone else?

I feel like the baffler is the only mag that I can read every single day without having to skip an article. Its pieces on issues that matter a whole lot to a tiny group of people I always find so fascinating. They also have neat little fiction pieces every now and then

You dont read any of the literary journals you submit to?

Well, before I submit, I always take a cursory glance to make sure the vibe is correct. But yeah, I've probably submitted to about 100 journals. There's no human way I could ever regularly read that many on top of my normal full-length reading habits and the normal range of adult responsibilities. That being said, if someone publishes my work I look a bit more frequently, as it's at least an indicator my taste is being reflected.

Failed to note preexisting discourse -- I can hear my high school mock-trial coach shouting "asked and answered!" as I blush in my Payless dress shoes. Out of curiosity, is there a search function for previous salon topics? I couldn't find one, but I'm not sure if that is just my ineptitude revealing itself.

I don't think there is.
