It was a fine book different because it's written by a woman neurosurgeon. You can immediately tell how dated it is by the use of lobectomy as first line for ischemic stroke, no longer performed as first line because of the increased risk of bleeding from vessels.
I was kind of annoyed at how she kept mentioning her successful partnership with her neurosurgeon turned venture capitalist husband. I get it, you're successful and happy and in love and awesome, and not getting your life destroyed by your job like all the other surgeons. Fuck you! (I'm not misogynistic btw if it was a man bragging about being a power couple I would have had the same complaint)
