I really got pulled into this story almost immediately after not having any major thoughts towards it going in (it was on my "to read" list and was easy to find in the bookstore). With it being an early entry into the noir style, I think most readers will be able to see where the story is going by the last half but I wouldn't say that takes away from the experience. It's very well written and would be a fun read for anybody in a rut.
