The book starts off strong and with promise. The first few stories are compelling and difficult to read, in a good way. Obviously not without fault but I enjoyed them at the least.
Reading the second half of the story (by which I mean the ones about the rich startup guy & Bee) feels like pulling teeth…….. characters, plots, structures, methods …. All so much! And none of it particularly good! Sad!
Tony Tulathimutte is clearly a talent, as evidenced by how celebrated he is and how good his writing is. But some of it feels both too ambitious and too phoned in. I do plan to read more of his work & even enjoy it (I’m sure) but I can’t believe but think about how there was so much more potential here. Alas…
