Even though we're so steeped in Christianity, the values it proposed were radical at the time. It doesn't feel that way because tho they're still radical now, we take them for granted. Being able to read and interrogate (some translation of) (some form of) these ancient texts it's so remarkable that they do still feel so urgent and real. But it's actually insane how different stuff was in ye olden days. Like Roman times sucked it seems. So was cool to read this from someone who is a translator/ scholar of those times when it was initially going down. Real heads will remember me ruining a few parties discussing Gilgamesh
