I found this book in a little English bookstore in Budapest, and as a sort-of beginner Hungarian learner (I want my simplified naturalization!!) I thought I'd give it a try. Poetry is always nice for language learning, it's like a little puzzle.
I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised, even with the English half. Usually I find translated poetry to be a bêtise, but it was very well done. It's dark, Baudlairian almost, but not juvenile à la Rimbaud. I feel like this sort of thing accords well with the Hungarian soul, the long centuries of suffering of a cursed people, I don't know many Hungarian optimists. I'd say if u wanna pick one out, try Nagyon faj, maybe you'll like it.
