Love is a story about misunderstanding, guilt, bitterness and anger. It feels almost painful to read a story about several women clawing away for a single man, whom we have a shifting perspective of as the book progresses. In usual Morrison fashion, the relationships between the characters are complex and each character contradicts themselves at various points.
Transfixing. Toni Morrison is a master with words. There are a lot of dark themes which is only slightly relaxed by her ability to explain profound things in an animated manner and animated things in a profound manner.
