I've liked almost everything I've read this year so far, just keeping a rough ranking for fun. Order may change according to mood.

What did you think of Glorious Exploits? I thought it was pretty fun, and am looking forward to more stuff he writes.

Same! Thought the modern Irish vernacular worked so well with the ancient setting and found he had moments of real poetry and sadness mixed in with the otherwise fun, humorous prose. I hope he leans into his lyricism more heavily in future books, and I'm excited to have gotten in on the ground floor with a writer (hopefully) for a change.

Yes, there is very much a "ground floor" feeling--it felt a little like the first novel of an author who writes a home run 3rd or 4th time around. But maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part...
