Social Thinking
By "social thinking" I mean social epistemology: thinking with others on the small scale to the large scale.
Topics:
Trust and trustworthiness.
Smaller scale social epistemology: disagreement, testimony, expertise, rumors, gossip.
Larger scale social epistemology: distributed cognition, epistemic states of groups and collectives (e.g. collective understanding/wisdom/decision making), scientific communities, political systems, legal systems, markets.
History of philosophy: Socratic dialogue, Endoxa, Medieval Obligationes, Republic of Letters, Gadamer.
Related areas: books from the human sciences (economics, psychology, etc.), social ontology, mindshaping, animal communication/societies among different species, assemblage theory.
Wonderous aspects: witnesses to miracles, dancing contagions, the theoroi in Ancient Greece, Chinese "anomaly accounts," Kunstkammer.
